HDAPS Harddisk Parking Got very easy to handle with lucid, the module is now recompiled at any kernel-install using DKMS, just install and reboot:
$ sudo aptitude install tp-smapi-dkms hdapsd
now just wait until next reboot, if you can't wait:
# modprobe tp-smapi; /etc/init.d/hdapsd restart
