Getting Native ODBC Drivers Working
Below is a tutorial for getting native windows ODBC drivers working under Wine.
To use Windows ODBC drivers, you have to override Wine's odbccp32.dll and odbc32.dll with the native versions because the Wine versions are currently wired directly to Linux's unixodbc.
Due to Bug 5824, MDAC 2.8 does not install correctly. Download MDAC version 2.7 and install it instead. DOWNLOAD http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/ref/mdac/downloads/
Download the MySQL native windows drivers. As of writing this tutorial there are three available versions of the MySQL ODBC drivers LINK http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/
msiexec /i mysql-driver.msi
Run cliconf.exe to allow TCP connection or whatever other connection method you are using.
Register the driver:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="odbccp32,odbc32=n" wine ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/myodbc3i.exe -a -d -t"MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver;DRIVER=myodbc3.dll;SETUP=myodbc3S.dll"
Run the the "ODBC Data Souce Administrator" to setup a connection.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="odbccp32,odbc32=n" wine ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/odbcad32.exe
That's it. You are done.
I will write tutorials for installing other ODBC drivers as I have time.
