标准linux内核还没有支持兼容内核，所以安装兼容内核还须安装一个打过补丁的linux内核，这使得安装变得复杂。这不利于它的推广。在兼容内核进入标准linux内核之前，这个问题比较好的解决办法是获得发行版的支持在发行版内核中包含兼容内核。而要获得发行版的支持则需要有吸引力的功能才行--如要获得中文发行版的支持则支持搜狗输入法、QQ、IE、迅雷等就比较重要了。

what is the benefit of this 'unified kernel' ? I wonder that all i can find about this in the net is from yesterday and from Linooxlee. The same
thread is in KDE forum and several other sites.
What can this unified kernel do that wine is not able to do. What is
the benefit for ROS project ?
If this really can do anything good , why is there no information to find
about it which isn't initiated by linooxlee ? its version 0.2.1 , so there
should be some information to find , but all i found in web was from
yesterday and from linooxlee

不是很理解你的意思，是否是认为兼容内核与外界沟通太少或进展太慢了？我认为兼容内核技术路子比wine好，wine因其在用户空间模拟windows内核的技术特点是不可能有大的作为的，它的效率太低而且很多功能根本无法实现永远也不会对ms windows构成威胁的。而兼容内核是利用linux内核函数等素材构建一个windows nt内核，windows nt内核的所有功能都可以实现而且能做到效率和windows一样。reactos从零做起都能做到现在的程度，兼容内核有linux做支撑更应做的更好。
兼容内核的问题是封闭式开发，进展太慢了。期望能做一个像wine一样的英文网站利用全球资源进行开发。

我对兼容内核的理解是：
兼容内核的目标是将Linux的内核加以扩充（在linux核中利用linux核内函数建立windows系统调用界面、设备驱动框架和设备驱动支撑界面），使其既支持Linux本身的应用和设备驱动，又支持Windows的应用和设备驱动，从而成为一个“兼容内核”。支持windows的功能是在模块中实现的，由于须兼容两个核不可避免地要对linux核打补丁。由于对内核打补丁，如果没有得到标准linux内核支持，就使得安装变得复杂，不利于推广。
兼容内核开发采取的渐进的方式，即以wine为始点，兼容内核开发自身的功能模块来替代wine的功能模块。兼容内核每实现一个功能就对wine打相应的补丁，使得windows程序转向使用兼容内核的功能。可以表示为：
IF （兼容内核实现了该功能）
使用兼容内核功能模块
Else
使用wine的功能模块（wineserver移入核内空间以提高效率）
Endif
