nvidia 显卡分辨率保存问题

我的电脑，NVIDIA nForce2 G的集成显卡，驱动安装成功后，设置分辨率为1680x1050，可以正常显示，但是重启后，在刚出现鼠标的时候，看着分辨率还正确（鼠标指针很小），等桌面出来后，分辨率却变为800x600了（鼠标指针也很大，明显和刚出现时不同了），实验了网上说的多种保存配置的方法，都不行。

驱动版本在ubuntu硬件驱动中显示为版本96

研究了几天，还没解决，每次要自己设置分辨率，很麻烦，请教一下，怎么解决？

我已经按照大家的方法实验过，问题没有解决。
用sudo nvidia-settings实验过，保存的文件也正确。


目前的现象是，在登录界面时，分辨率都是正确的，登录后，分辨率却变成800X600了。

系统--->首选项--->显示,可以改登录后的分辨率不?

可以修改，保存也没有提示出错，就是重启后，又回到老样子。又要修改。
