把grub装在xp的mbr上后，启动有xp选项但进不了xp

装了ubuntu10.10，之后重启，连grub都没有，出现“no module name found”，后来借鉴http://forum.ubuntu.org.cn/viewtopic.php?t=299045，装了grub，重启后没有常见的选择启动项界面，只有grub命令行，用rootnoverify（hd0，0）命令能进xp，但是没能进入ubuntu，可能是我不太熟悉grub吧
后来看到有人说安装时把grub安装在xp的mbr上可以解决，于是又装了一遍ubuntu，在安装前最后一步选择把启动安装在xp所在的分区上，结果安装后重启，还是grub命令行，输入rootnoverify（hd0，0），chainloader+1命令时，不是进入xp，而是出现了常见的grub选择启动项的界面， 选择ubuntu，能进！
可是选择xp时出了问题，选择xp，进去后还是出现grub选择启动项的界面，仿佛是个循环
请各位高手教教我

确实如你所说是循环。

在安装前最后一步选择把启动安装在xp所在的分区上

这样是把grub安装到xp的pbr上，要安装到mbr（sda）。
有xp安装光盘么？光盘启动，进入故障修复控制台，fixboot　c:命令修复一下。

最好先：

把文件先复制到桌面，终端运行：

有点乱了，mbr装的是grub1，sda1　xp分区pbr装的是grub2.
先在grub命令行如下，看能不能进ubuntu。

如果能进ubuntu。

查一下是不是安装的是GRUB 2，版本编号 1.96 或是更新。
