UG应该是从*nix系统移植到windows上的，但是一直没有见到过for linux的。

UG 没有听过有 linux 版，看它的界面，它可能只是在ms 中开发的，
catia 到是在unix开发的， 比UG，Pro/E都强。

哈，我只是学生啦，机械学院的。ProE也是商业软件呀。
可以肯定的是它是从unix发展过来的，因为已经有了几十年的历史了。UG V18还有linux版，但是到了NX版以后就没有见到过。个人感觉应该会有的。UGS公司赠送了我们学校100套他们的软件，所以我们画图工具一律从SolidWork和ProE转换成了UG，不得不佩服UGS的眼光。最近在做课程设计，总是要在windows下面用UG画图，所以向各位打听一下有没有见过UG for linux的。
至于哪个软件更强，很多论坛都有过讨论。CATIA是由IBM做推广的，曲面建模能力强，汽车行业用的很多。UG更通用一些，在机械加工行业最流行，它能直接输出CNC加工代码的G代码。但是国内最流行的不是这两个，而是ProE。主要可能是ProE价格便宜一些吧。
似乎Linux下面有个三维建模软件叫Brl-CAD?没有用过，不知道有没有同行在用？
