我的780G顺利安装了驱动。
三种方法中的第二中，Installing the restricted drivers "the Ubuntu way"

忘了说一件事，
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install linux-restricted-modules-generic restricted-manager （#resticted-manager 已经被装了。我的是jocky）
$ sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx
$ sudo depmod -a
$ sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
File: /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Driver "fglrx" （我的原来是 ati）

$ sudo aticonfig --initial -f


After this you should be able to restart your computer and have the driver working. To test type
Terminal Command

$ fglrxinfo

into a terminal. If the vendor string is not ATI, but Mesa, check #Removing Mesa drivers

我按照这个页面上的方法中的第三种：也就是手动安装RUN。但我发现其中有这么一句

sh ati-driver-......run --buildpkg Ubuntu/hardy

这明明已经是intrepid了。为什么还是hardy呢？

另外，我在安装RUN生成的DEB包时出现了一个ERROR：

说我要先build dkms for linux-2.6.27-7-generic(i686)。

总之就是不能成功安装，重启以后连图形界面都看不到了。诸位有谁按照这个方法装好，想请教！谢谢！

偶的780G总算装上fglrx了
发现是kernel的问题，原来在8.04.1时候是用rt内核
升级以后是2.6.27.3-rt的内核，问题多多，fglrx和vboxdrv都起不来，换成2.6.27-7-generic的内核就好了
不过现在还有声卡的问题，继续努力

linux-restricted-modules-generic 已经是最新的版本了。
注意，选取 jockey-gtk 而非 restricted-manager
jockey-gtk 已经是最新的版本了。
下列软件包是自动安装的并且现在不再被使用了：
libdc1394-13 libqt4-dbus libtagc0 libqtcore4 libqt4-xml libkarma0
libavahi1.0-cil libnjb5
使用'apt-get autoremove'来删除它们
共升级了 0 个软件包，新安装了 0 个软件包，要卸载 0 个软件包，有 0 个软件未被升级。

Try to run it with sudo.
$ sudo aticonfig --initial

If it fails again, then it's probably an internal error in "aticonfig". Do not worry abbot it.
aticonfig --initial does not do much. It just writes "fglrx" and some other basic values to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

Move on and run
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
