First, apologies for not using Chinese, I am an English teacher working in Zhejiang and hae been in touch with some other English speakers in China with similar problems but they haven't helped.

My ISP here in my apartment runs a pppoe connection using Amtium v1.1 to do some stupid windows thing ( something about how I don't have to pay with this thing, but "it only works in windoze") I know somebody has hacked this for ubuntu, so could someone walk me through this? In English please.

Of course the IT people here are hopeless, thanks for your help folks!!!!!

Here is my stuff:
My eth0 is run off a P5N Asus MB, My daughter's is off a VIA chipset.
I am running: Roaring Penguin 3.8 (a pppoe config gui) and wireshark (a packet sniffer) as well as the regular network admin stuff.
I run from my primary box to a hub where my daughter's old P4 box which dual boots windoze and ubuntu studio is hooked as well.
Her windoze partition is connected to the internet through Amtium1.1, but i can't really figure out what the heck Amtium does. Or how to hook in with ubuntu.

if you need anything else just ask, while I am not a total geek, I've been around a few years with ubuntu and Fedora (my office box) and can type a few commands if need be.

i seems that no one has done that before.
i searched Amtium in google and i haven't found any information about cracking this software.
i seems that it is only designed for windows,and maybe it uses some low-level things of a system that wine can not do.
if you can not get it through by using wine then you can try VMware or virtualbox.

I am running Virtual Box in my computer and it doesn't seem to want to run this script. It does appear to run, but it doesn't complete and create a "WAN minihub" as it does in a non-virtual windows: essentially I am guessing that the script already creates a virtual WAN minihub and asking VB to virtualize a virtual machine might be a bit too much.

I haven't tried wine, but I have it set up in my daughter's computer (so she can run photoshop in ubuntu) and I will try it now and post back with results.

windowssux: I can't read one of your posts, but am guessing that you had that transed in the other post, so i just went by the tags that did show and it looked like you had links to wine pages, i'll follow them and see what there is there. Thanks for any suggestions.

I am not hopeful about VT or emulation because it looks like it already creates that virtual hub, but can't hurt to try, the worst I can do is break windows, which is already broken, so who cares.

I have googled up for a Amtium1.1 compatible client in linux, but no luck. Amtium uses both BAS and 802.1x to make sure only that the authorized have access to internet, and there is little hope to see a compatible client in a short time. Also, I find that this company has a webpage based log-in interface which I believe is the best solution for your case. So why not contact them for a webpage log-in interface? I do not think it would take them much time to set it up if it is not done by the company branch in your town.

mmmmmm, I'll try the interface route, but don't hold out much hope. Today, for the third or fourth time this script has failed to connect and required a restore session to an earlier date to keep the connection running. Except this time it didn't work and i'll have to call the company anyway, so I'll see what I can do. It would be one thing if their script worked well, but it doesn't, so what to do?

Anyway, thanks for your help, I'll keep working on it, even though I just got accused of trolling for asking this question on another forum. Sorry, but you are the only people who have even had any ideas on how to approach it. Thanks

you have two computer , one is windows ,the other is linux , u can share the windows's network,then your linux can connected the network through the windows's .

a webpage based authentication would do.
