ubuntu server上能用mplayer吗

我想在server上安装mplayer 和mencoder 想用server 作rmvb to mp4的转换

但是发现好像不行。不知道什么原因 mplayer 和mencoder好现已经安装成功了。

但是安装
sudo apt-get install w32codecs
的时候出错。。

请问怎样处理？

相同版本好的各个版本之间软件通用

w32codecs没有这个包，自己到网上下载！

w32codecs 源里面没有，自己上网去下。

推荐自己下载这个东西

但是同样的源文件 我的ubuntu desktop版本就可以下载w32codecs

为啥呢
