My system is installed as Ubuntu 6.06, and upgraded to 6.10, 7.04, 7.10, 8.04.
Yesterday I upgrade to the newest 8.10.
Here are some problems that I met and still struggle for them:
1. when system boot, and Ubuntu Gnome Logon Screen shows, Mouse cannot move, Username cannot be input. I tried and tried, neither alpha nor digital keys can be entered, but:
i). CTRL+ALT+DEL can reboot system. WHY ???
ii). CTRL+ALt+[1-5] can switch to console
2. In console,
sudo apt-get remove gdm ubuntu-desktop
when system-boot, console logon promotes.
On console, type "startx" enter Desktop
3. Sound System does NOT work any more
4. SCIM can show, but NO chinese pinyin input method available.
At present, I just find these problems.
Anybody show somt hints??
thanks

Re: problems of upgrading from 8.04 to 8.10
输入法问题基本解决,使用 iBus,貌似还可以 。
