how to install fcitx3.4 input methods in ubuntu6.10

I have just installed ubuntu linux6.10 in my computer tonight ,but I can't input chinese words in this OS, so i download fcitx input software ,when i install this software under ubuntu ,it makes mistakes like this:

checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables

please install software by synaptic or apt-get.
