There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.

Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly.

The last error message was:

Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in.

我用的是校园网，静态ip，修改/etc/network/interfaces，内容如下：
#auto lo
#iface lo inet loopback


#iface eth0 inet dhcp

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static

address 222.201.145.23

netmask 255.255.255.0

gateway 222.201.145.254
配置了上网之后，每次登录，进入桌面之后要等很久图标才出现。那时候，桌面是一大片UB的颜色，左上角一大片灰色的，鼠标可以动。但是就是停在那里。很多次，我以为他不行了，于是重启，重启之后还是一样，今天，心情好，多等了一下，想不到，居然可以用了。不过出现上面的错误！于是上网查找了一下。尝试更改/etc/network/interfaces,内容如下：
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback


#iface eth0 inet dhcp

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static

address 222.201.145.23

netmask 255.255.255.0

gateway 222.201.145.254
其实就是去掉前面那两个语句的＃，重启。居然成功了！欢天喜地！

看来能造成这个异常的原因很多啊！
我那两行本来就没有被注视掉，但是照样会有这样的错误提示。

而且，我的系统是在移动硬盘上的，也并不是在每台电脑上用都会有这样的提示。

恩 造成这个情况的原因很多阿 我今天下午就出现了刚才的问题 然后仔细回想了下重启前做过的修改 后来想起来是把/etc/hosts文件中的localhost的IP地址改了 该回来再重启就正常了

原因很多，很难可以一下子就解决，但应该至少确保以下两点：
1. /etc/hosts 文件中有一行为
127.0.0.1 localhost

2. /etc/network/interfaces 文件中包含以下内容：
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback


登录后用ifconfig查看lo是否是活动的，否则用
ifconfig lo up
启动lo，这时试试看先前的错误是否还存在。
