显卡驱动始终无法成功安装

小弟刚开始学linux，一直想感受一下ubuntu的3D效果， 可装完系统后，显卡驱动一直装不成功， 安装过程也没提示什么错误 ， 就是要求重启后，就在显示欢迎界面前，出现在黑屏， Nvidia settings 显示 ：You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig` as root), and restart the X server.

援救模式下，硬件驱动中显示 显卡驱动正在使用，
很郁闷啊 ，
我的显卡 ， GeForce FX5200 (很老了）
