ubuntu 9.04 如何释放物理内存

我也觉得这软件脑残……一般软件都会向内核申请内存……如果内存不够内核肯定会把现有的页交换到swap，空出来足够的地方给软件用。难道这个软件向内核申请内存，内核会不批准？没道理啊……除非这个软件是自己用某种手段来检测物理内存的，但这样一来不是越俎代庖了吗？本来该内核干的事啊……

至于说把磁盘缓存去掉，我不甚了解。不过就我检测的，每次开机后内存总是满满的，其中磁盘缓存竟然能占到一半左右……说实话我不太在乎磁盘I/O，我严重需要响应速度。但是照这个趋势发展下去，我就是装4G的条子，也只能用到2G啊

and, in other word, if ur machine can't support rythmbox + simvision at the same time that means ur machine really sucks...
not enough is "really not enough", linux will not use all ram if it have enough, that's not linux business, can linux help u if ur machine have only 600MB RAM for all?
add ram to ur machine.

I do (suggested be changed to did) my best to understand the software , but I cannot spend time on modifying the software. That is not my business.
If u know how to modify the scripts , u can type them out.
For company (I don't understand what you mean) , it is really damned. but I am not able to demand an upgrade for my PC. The rythmbox i said , is just an example , and there are more applications swallowing the ram.
btw:my PC has just 1G ram,not 600M,

我觉得21楼的回答是正确的。

另外，如果楼主能够改变提问题的方式是否效果会更好呢？例如你已经找到了方法，但是遇到的问题是 Permission denied，而不是如何释放内存。

sudo echo 3 > /proc/xxxx 

会失败，返回错误 Permission denied 呢？

因为 sudo 只会提升 echo 的权限，不能提升管道 > 的权限。所以采用 21 楼的方法才是正确的方法（当然正确的方法有很多种，并不是唯一的）。

其实不光楼主这个软件有问题，我给我的9.04开了2G的swap，我的机器有4G的ram，但是我开着什么也不做，也不开屏保，一个通宵去看，内存只剩下21mb了，平时如果上上网，聊聊天什么的，内存就不断的看着往下掉，当然，没内存后启动个什么软件什么的用用都暴卡~我用了前面说的命令释放内存，机器就活过来了~相当郁闷啊，不知道怎么回事，后来装了ailurus，用里面调整内存那个设置，就是把默认的60变成0或者100都可以，随便什么，只要调过，机器就好像拥有了自动垃圾回收一样，内存不再无故减小了，现在开个文件管理器和FF，内存稳定在3591好久不动了~不像以前什么不做内存还不断减小~

ps 楼主也不要怪大家，逼近这种问题现在遇到的人很少，大家不懂就会变成水贴：）我也是给我的9.04装了pekwm，配上fbpanel后才出现这个问题的，看着fbpanel自带的内存工具和free -m里数值不断减小才发现怎么机器用着用着变卡了，以前用gnome和e17都没有……
