如何将tar.gz安装的软件放在菜单栏上？

我下载了一个Seamonkey1.1.1，用的是installer .tar.gz的包，用里面的安装界面安装的。它提示如下信息：
To hook up SeaMonkey complete with icon to the GNOME Panel, follow these steps:

1. Click the GNOME Main Menu button, open the Panel menu, and then open the Add to Panel submenu and choose Launcher.

2. Right-click the icon for SeaMonkey on the Panel and enter the following command:
directory_name./seamonkey

where directory_name is the name of the directory you downloaded SeaMonkey to. For example, the default directory that SeaMonkey suggests is /usr/local/seamonkey.

3. Type in a name for the icon, and type in a comment if you wish.

4. Click the icon button and type in the following as the icon's location:

directory_name/icons/mozicon50.xpm

where directory name is the directory where you installed SeaMonkey. For example, the default directory is /usr/local/seamonkey/icons/mozicon50.xpm.

我在系统－＞首先项－＞菜单布局，里新建项目，当让我输入命令时我反复输入都不好使。不知道怎么弄了，请高手帮我。我的Seamonkey安装在 /usr/local/seamonkey里了，我在root终端里的/usr/local/seamonkey文件下输入 ./seamonkey 就可以启动程序。

基本上所有能在Ubuntu菜单中显示的程序快捷方式都是以.desktop文件的形式存放在 /usr/share/applications 目录下的。你可以到这个目录下创建一个 seamonkey.desktop 文件，在这个文件中写入适当的内容，然后就可以Ubuntu菜单中看到SeaMonkey的快捷方式了。

1. 创建 seamonkey.desktop 文件
$sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/seamonkey.desktop

2. 在打开的文件中添加如下内容
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=SeaMonkey
Comment=All-in-one internet application suite
Exec= directory_name/seamonkey
Icon= directory_name/icons/mozicon50.xpm
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Application;Network;

其中directory_name是你安装seamonkey时的路径名。

3. 保存文件，关闭gedit。到Ubuntu菜单栏的“网络”一项里面查看有没有一个叫“SeaMonkey”的程序出现。
