Create a New Calendar
When you register your account, you are provided a default calendar which you can modify. If you need to add more calendars, you can simply click the “New Calendar” link in the menu on the right to open the create calendar page. From here you can provide a name, description, and default visibility for this calendar. (The default visibility is used to assign a visibility selection for when you create events. It is simply a convenience so that you don’t have to select the visibility each time you create an event. This is useful if you want all your events to be either private or public by default.) Once you have entered the new calendar’s information, you can press the save button to complete the creation of the calendar. Once created, you will be taken to your new calendar so you can start adding new events right away.
Changing Your Default Calendar
This feature has not yet been added and should be included in the beta release.
Changing Calendar Settings
First you need to navigate to the calendar whos name you wish to change. You can do this by clicking on that calendar in the Calendars section of the menu. Once you have selected the correct calendar, you should click the “Settings” link on the right menu. This will take you to the calendar settings page where you can change the name, description, and default visibility for your calendar. Modify the value in the appropriate field and click the save button to commit the changes. You should be taken back to your calendar and the name change will have taken effect.

Building an Event
Once the event edit panel is visible, you have the ability to modify/create an event. The options at your disposal are:
代码: 全选
1) giving the event a title,
2) giving the event a description,
3) specifying a start date,
4) specifying a start time,
5) specifying the duration for the event,
6) providing a tag for the event (see “Filtering on Tags” section under the “View Options” topic),
7) providing a URL for the event,
8) and scheduling a reminder for the event.
Once you have specified all the options for your event you can then save the event by clicking the save button. If you do not wish to save the event, you can either click the cancel button or click the minimize button on the event edit panel frame.
Publishing Calendars
Public events in your calendar are not publicly searchable until you publish your calendar. That means that people coming to the CalendarHub.com website to find your events won’t be able to view them either by searching or by entering your calendar id in a url such as /calendar/id/. You must perform the publishing step to enable both. To publish your calendar, first you need to navigate to the calendar that you wish to publish. You can do this by clicking on that calendar in the Calendars section of the menu. Once you have selected the correct calendar, you should click the “Publish” link on the right menu. This will display the publish field with a default name derived from your calendar name. You can change the published name to be whatever you want as long as it is unqiue (more than one calendar cannot have the same published name). Once you have entered a name, you can click the publish button beside the name field to complete the publishing of the calendar.
Once published, you will be able to see your calendar at “calendarhub.com/pub/calendarname/”. Don’t see your events yet? Make sure they are public, otherwise they won’t show up there.
Managing Groups
Each calendar has a group assigned to it. By default you, as the owner, are the only member of the group. You can create events that only members of your group can see. This way, you can have a published calendar that contains public events as well as group events that your group members can subscribe to in their calendars.
Adding Users to Your Group
The only way to add users to your group is to use the invitation process which will send an email to your candidate group member which they can use to join your group. To do this, you need to click the “Sharing” link in the right menu. This will take you to the sharing page where you can enter your friends email addresses and send invitations to join your group. If those users will follow the link, they will be able to register (if necessary), login and then automatically be joined to your group.
Removing Users from Your Group
In order to remove existing group members, you need to click the “Sharing” link in the right menu. This will take you to the sharing page where you can check the users you wish to remove and click the “Remove User(s)” button. Once users are removed, they will
no longer be able to see your group events. But they will still be able to view the public events in your published calendar.
Managing Subscriptions
Subscribe to Another Calendar
To subscribe to a calendar, you need to click the “Subscriptions” link which will take you to the Subscriptions page. Once there, you will see two sections: Subscriptions, and Search. The subscriptions
section will show you the calendars to which the current calendar is subscribed. In the search field you can type in a keyword for the calendar you are searching for. You can either search by name or by description content. Clicking the search button after entering the search criteria will return
you a list of results. Click the {add+} icon of the calendar that you wish to import to add the calendar to your subscriptions. You should see the calendar
appear in your subscriptions list.
Remove Subscriptions
To un-subscribe to a calendar, you need to click the “Subscriptions” link which will take you to the Subscriptions page. Once there, you will see two sections: Subscriptions, and Search. The subscriptions
section will show you the calendars to which the current calendar is subscribed. Each calendar that the current calendar subscribes to will have
a {delete-} icon which you can click to un-subscribe. Once clicked, you should see the selected calendar disappear from the subscriptions list.
Searching Subscribable Calendars
To search for subscribable calendars, you need to click the “Subscriptions” link which will take you to the Subscriptions page.
See “Subscribe to Another Calendar” section to see how to subscribe to calendars in the search results list.
Searching
Searching Public Events
To search for public events from published calendars, you simply need to enter a keyword into the search field (located at the bottom
of the right menu), select the “Public Events” search option, and click the search button. The result list will be returned on a separate page.
You can add any of the resulting events by clicking that event’s {add+} icon.
Searching My Events
First, “My Events” would mean all events public, group, and private from the current selected calendar plus all the public events from published calendars
to which your calendar subscribes, plus all the group events for calendars of which you are a member and to which the current calendar is subscribed.
Essentially, if you can see the event in your calendar, it is searchable using the following search procedure: To search for events from your own calendar,
you simply need to enter a keyword into the search field (located at the bottom of the right menu), select the “My Events” search option, and click the
search button. The result list will be returned on a separate page. You can add any of the resulting events by clicking that event’s {add+} icon.
Importing Events
You can import calendars that are formatted to the ICal standard. Currently, Outlook will import ICS files, but it will not export to them. For the present, you
can only perform one-way synching between CalendarHub and Outlook. Other calendar programs, such as Apple’s ICalendar, will readily import and export to the
ICal standard which means that two-way synching is possible. Also, most other web-calendars, such as Trumba, will support the ICal standard. This way you can
easily keep your web calendars in synch. It is also handy if you are switching between services.
Exporting Events
Exporting the Current Calendar
By “current calendar”, in the context of exporting, we are referring to only the events that belong to the current calendar. This means that events from subscribed
calendars are not included. You can export your public, private, and group events from your current calendar by clicking the “Export” link which will take you to
the export page. Once there, you should click the “From CalendarName” link (where CalendarName = the name of your calendar). Clicking this link should generate
an ics file that you can download onto your PC/Mac.
Exporting All Calendars
By “all calendars”, in the context of exporting, we are referring to events in the current calendar plus events from subscribed
calendars. You can export these events by clicking the “Export” link which will take you to the export page. Once there, you should click the “From All Calendars” link.
Clicking this link should generate an ics file that you can download onto your PC/Mac.
View Options
Viewing the Calendar in the Day View
The day view allows you to see events in the selected day grouped by the hour in which they start. To see the Day View, click the “Day” link in the
view options toolbar located at the top-left of the screen. To add events, see the “Adding an Event” section under the “Manipulating Events” topic.
You can also move events between hours of the day using the drag-and-drop feature. See “Using Drag-And-Drop” for more information. This makes short work
intra-day rescheduling of events.
Viewing the Calendar in the Week View
The week view allows you to see events for the next 7 days grouped by the day in which they start. To see the Week View, click the “Week” link in the
view options toolbar located at the top-left of the screen. To add events, see the “Adding an Event” section under the “Manipulating Events” topic.
You can also move events between days using the drag-and-drop feature. See “Using Drag-And-Drop” for more information. So to reschedule an event
to another day (assuming it starts at the same time), you simply need to drag the event and drop it into the desired day.
Viewing the Calendar in the Month View
The month view allows you to see events in the selected month grouped by the day in which they start. To see the Month View, click the “Month” link in the
view options toolbar located at the top-left of the screen.
Viewing the Calendar in the Year View
The year view is a quick-reference to simply allow you to see which days of the year have events. To see the Year View, click the “Year” link in the
view options toolbar located at the top-left of the screen. To add events, see the “Adding an Event” section under the “Manipulating Events” topic.
Viewing the Calendar in the List View
The List view allows you to see all the events in your calendar in a list format ordered by start date/time. To see the List View, click the “Month” link in the
view options toolbar located at the top-left of the screen. To add events, see the “Adding an Event” section under the “Manipulating Events” topic.
Filtering by Tags
Another option for customizing the current view is to filter the events based on the tag associated with those events. The default
selection for any view is “All Tags” which is signified by the disabled ALL link at the bottom-left of the calendar. To view events
based on any of the tags, you simply must click the tag name link at the bottom left of the calendar view. Clicking the tag name link will
cause the current view to display only the events that have that tag associated with it. See “Building Events” section under the
“Manipulating Events” topic for information on creating tags in event.
Filtering by Calendar
Since your calendar can subscribe to many calendars, it is nice sometimes to be able to view only certain calendars in that subscription list.
By default all calendars in your subscription list are selected (not filtered-out). To deselect one of your subscribed calendars and thus
filter that calendar’s events from your view, you simply need to click the calendar’s name under the “Subscriptions” section in the menu
on the right. If you notice, there is a check mark beside each calendar whos events are included in the current view. Unchecked calendars
are calendars that have been filtered out, and their events are not currently visible.
RSS Feeds
Using RSS With Your Calendar
Once you have published your calendar, you can access your calendar’s RSS feed using a link in the following format:
http://www.calendarhub.com/pub/calendarname/(where calendar name is the published name of your calendar)
“year” for events in the next 365 days, or “list” for all upcoming events).
Using Drag-And-Drop
Events in the month, day, and week view will have a draggable handle on the right-side of the event name. You can click that handle
and drag that event to another day/hour depending on the type of view you are in. In the Day View, you can drag the events between hours
so it is easy to reschedule appointments later in the day. In the Week and Month views, you can drag events between days so rescheduling events
to another day is easily done.
Working with the Menus
On the right side of the calendar view is the Menu Section. This is a set of javascript menus that can be collapsed, expanded, and
reordered. These menus contain most of the options for managing the current calendar such as options for import, export, and
the managing of groups and subscriptions.
