1、安装好了ubuntu的时候是英文的，就算是你默认了中文也是英文的。你必须下载语言包。
以前的ubuntu更新源好快的的，现在的慢了，建议换源
在终端输入sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list 打开，介意把里面的内容备份。

我用的是中国台湾省台湾大学更新服务器、 Archive.ubuntu.com更新服务器的源
丢进去中间空一点（随你高兴，可空可不空）保存
然后在终端输入sudo apt-get update 更新上面你弄的东东
如果你要新的软件的话就在来sudo apt-get dist-upgrade（我没耐心）
a、点击屏幕上方面板中的“系统”（可能是英文，总之是从左边数第三个），在菜单中 选择“系统管理”（同样可能是英文，是菜单第2项），打开语言支持（language support）,在这个设置程序中找到chinese一项，将后面的方框点成对号，再点Apply.

系统会自动帮助你安装完中文字体、输入法等。重启
（一般刚开始是看不见的，有语言包的提示。解决方法：百度上去，下一首mp3，然后点mp3就会提示你要安装的音频解码器，安。安好了就在回到上一步，保证有语言包下）
b、好了以后，一般在下载smb 系统－》系统管理－》共享文档 安
c、打补丁，（随你高兴）
d、一些好一点的软件
1、安装rar压缩、解压工具


sudo apt-get install rar unrar
2、mplayer
sudo apt-get install mplayer mozilla-mplayer totem-xine libxine-extracodecs
这里需要一个w32codecs文件，是用来支持那些私有媒体格式的解码器，源里已经没有w32codecs了，我们可以从这里下载那个后缀为.deb的安装

mplayer调试(视频、字幕)

启动mplayer,右键－>Preferences－>Video

Available drivers选择xv

然后进入Font标签 Font里选择一个中文字体，Encoding里设置为Simplified Chinese charset (CP936)
3、ubuntu 7.04 下播放rm

安装所有的gstreamer0.10组件


# sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-*
（注意一般你安装了w32codecs，ubuntu自带的就可以播放rmvb、rm等文件，但是没声音。解决：alt＋F2输入~/.xine/catalog.cache 打开一个文文件[/usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.1.4/xineplug_decode_real_audio.so]在此项最后的decoder_priority增加到10，保存OK）
4、安装词霸星际译王（比金山词霸好用^_^）


sudo apt-get install stardict stardict-common

然后到下面链接下载词典文件：

然后把词典文件解压到以下路径即可

如果运行firestarter发现打开不了，就按以下方法解决：

根据本机ifconfig的输出信息来修改以下几行代码：

再用 regedit 导入这个 reg ， 执行::
regedit hiweed_green_color.reg
（名字可以自己取：名字.reg 这是抄wiki的。如果不执行sudo apt-get update的话安装好的wine按钮不会是乱碼，执行了后就是乱码。解决：alt＋F4 ~/.wine/ 进入wine的模块drives_c在进入找到font，你去xp里复制一个ubuntu支持的字体丟进去在终端regedit hkey_local_machine Software\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\FontSubstitutes

这里的两个值是你复制进去的字体的前面如：你复制了simsun.ttc那就改成simsun,不要ttc。就可以了wine的按钮就不是乱码）
16、安装QQ
现在的QQ你可以去官方里面下载QQ for liunx的rpm包，然后你用fakeroot alien 转成deb包双击就可以安装了
17、一个问题的解决，在用了3D桌面的时候你不用了你会发现你的有下角只有一个桌面了
解决：系统——系统管理——新立得软件包管理器，

搜索：compiz

在出来的搜索结果中找到这个并勾选：gnome-compiz-manager

应用后，

按Ctrl+Alt+退格键，重新登录X环境（我不知道这个步骤是否必需？）

在系统——首选项的菜单中将出现一个新的项目：GL Desktop

运行之，

在Workspaces标签页中，

Viewports下面的

Number of viewports默认值是1，改成4就恢复了。

注意确保该标签页上的Effect是选择了Cube and rotation。
18、对于熟了windows的人说一下子来到ubuntu是不适应的（我也不怎么适应）
解决：安装vmware－workstaion
网上找一个虚拟工作站安装windows 序列的来慢慢适应
下到了的话就sudo ./vmware－install.pl
傻瓜安装y or n看它说什么就安什么

19、备份ubuntu系统

如果你希望更高的压缩比（速度慢）

用这个替换上面最后一步的代码：

tar cvpjf backup.tar.bz2 --exclude=/proc --exclude=/lost+found --exclude=/backup.tar.bz2 --exclude=/mnt --exclude=/sys /





到你的根目录下，有一个backup.tgz ，这就是你的备份文件





恢复（慎用，会把你分区里所有文件替换成压缩文档里的文件）

tar xvpfz backup.tgz -C /



如果你是用第2种方法备份的话，用这个替换最后一步的代码





tar xvpfj backup.tar.bz2 -C /





等它做完了
