求助“关于屏幕偏移问题”

本人的显示器是DELL P1130，显卡是TNT2 Pro 32M
我遇到的问题是安装好8.10后，将分辨率设成1280x1024后整个桌面往右偏1cm。通过调节显示自身设置后可以解决但是我不能这样做，因为若这样做了当回到windows后，整个桌面又会往左偏1cm。
我查阅了一下wiki找到了解决方法，原文如下：

1. sudo xvidtune
2. 用left和right按钮调屏幕位置，再test按钮试一试满意没有，满意了，就下一步，不满意再用left和right按钮调整。
3. 按show，好让终端有类似 "1024x768" 94.50 1024 1093 1168 1376 768 769 772 808 +hsync +vsync 的出现。
4. sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf，先另存为，作一个备份。然后找到Section "Monitor"中当前分辨率的那段，你应该会看到类似 Modeline "1024x768" 94.50 1024 1093 1168 1376 768 769 772 808 +hsync +vsync这样的语句（没有的话就将记下来的东西在开头加Modeline，将它添加到EndSection的前面），按照刚才记下来的东西修改其中的相应位置的数值，改完后保存文件为原来的xorg.conf，注销，然后重起xwindow，搞定！

按此法可以解决屏幕的偏移问题，但问题是我不能保存设置，每次注销或重启后屏幕又偏移了。我觉的我领会的第4步有误，我是这样修改的：

Vendor: (null), Model: (null)
Num hsync: 1, Num vsync: 1
hsync range 0: 30.00 - 130.00
vsync range 0: 48.00 - 170.00
"1280x1024" 157.50 1280 1360 1520 1728 1024 1025 1028 1072 +hsync +vsync
上面是我在终端上操作步骤1，2，3的输出显示。

上面是我的文件xorg.conf蓝色部分是我按步骤4做的修改，不知这样做对吗？反正结果是无效。希望老鸟们指点一下，谢谢！

我也想到过此招但我的硬件驱动里提示“这个系统上没有使用专有驱动“，所以我无法安装nvidia的显卡受限驱动

那还是用xvidtune。
另外，Section "Screen"那一节也要加东西。你用xorg为关键字搜索百度，
