英特网的问题：Wifi, Router, Ethernet

Hello*,

I'm living in China and have a Asus F8S (laptop) with Xubuntu Jaunty (update of Ubuntu ]Feisty ). I don't have Windows.
The wifi is working but not internet (except one hour a day from a neighbour,s router I guess).

I want to be able to use internet:
1- With a modem.
2- or/and with the wifi.
3. or/and with my other computer, which has internet, via ethernet link or router (Mercury MW54R).

Nothing work. It's in Chinese and made for Windows.

Problem ①: everything works for pppoeconf, but plog gives:

大概看了下，这位老外哥们想上网，可是上不了。
坛子里的哪位老大出来，发扬下白求恩精神，帮助下这位在中国生活的洋大人。
其实我觉得，这位洋哥们应该上Ubuntu国际论坛，那里可是有百万人马的，而且水平也比我们的坛子要高些吧，至少语言障碍就没有了。

关于第一个问题

1 你可能需要联系一下你的internet接入提供商
似乎你的mac地址不在允许范围内（如果你确定你没有自己更改过mac地址，或者换了一个网卡）
2 或者你自己的路由器设置了MAC白名单或者黑名单
3 是否设置了网关，路由器用的路由模式还是桥接模式？拨号连接后，查看命令“ route -n ”的输出并贴出来看看

在网关(Gateway)栏出现了 ADSL 调制解调器的默认 IP 地址 192.168.1.1，也就是多出一行来，那是绝对不允许的，它会和远程服务器上的真实网关冲突。而且你的子网掩码(Genmask)都有问题。

(1)关闭已存在的拨号连接(如果你有拨号的话)

(2)重新配置你的网络，只需要填写下面两项，不要填写网关！ 例如：
IP 地址： 192.168.1.6
子网掩码： 255.255.255.0

(3)保存设置，然后重启网络服务,或者重新启动你的电脑.

现在重新拨号试试。

I will give it a try tomorrow. Thanks. I will tell you if it works.

The modem (①) is working. I change the MAC like that:

sudo ifconfig eth0 hw ether 00:e0:e2:00:c5:21

I suppose I will have to do it again after a reboot, but it's ok for me. I will ask the school to add this address if it's possible.

Still don't know how to use the router though.

So:

② Maybe.

如果希望同时上网的话，我的建议是“不要在本机配置pppoeconf”，使用你的Modem路由器进行拨号，此后，你的Wifi和台式机都是直接接入就可上网，不需做任何额外设置。

通常来说，Modem设置可以通过直接登录到路由器的IP地址的http网页来实现。
