于是准备 Dapper -> Edgy beta；然后play beryl on Edgy。
昨晚屁垫屁垫的从 Dapper 升级到了 Edgy beta，期间也遇到问题三两，不过总体顺利，且都已解决，想想这系统一路从5.04升级到Edgy，几乎没有多大痛苦，实在幸福。
今晚花了1个来小时，又搞定了 beryl on Edgy，步骤简单的很，主要参照

硬件配置：
1. Celeron CPU 2.40GHz
2. GeForce4 MX 440 AGP 8X, 64MB
Tube，窗口弹动等等效果一级棒，也很流畅，和普通桌面的速度几无差别。
下面简述主要步骤（只针对 nVidia℡℡显卡，i386，其他显卡和CPU请参照上面的 wiki 页面）

1. 首先将系统（Edgy）所有组件升级至最新：
2. 修改/etc/apt/sources.list，添加第三方软件包仓库sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
deb http://ubuntu.compiz.net/ edgy main-edgy #最新版本的 beryl
deb http://amaranth.selfip.com edgy lrm #nvidia 最新beta版驱动及相关软件包
保存退出；
wget http://ubuntu.compiz.net/quinn.key.asc -O - | sudo apt-key add - #添加Quinn的key

sudo apt-get update
3. 安装最新版本（beta）nvidia驱动
上述更新应当会同时更新系统的linux-restricted-modules & Linux-restricted-modules-common 软件包。sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx libxorg-sched-yield-hack0
sudo apt-get upgrade
将驱动设置更新到 /etc/X11/xorg.conf （建议先做好备份）sudo nvidia-xconfig
4. 启用 X 的 compositing
在/etc/X11/xorg.conf文件里（建议先做好备份）
将下列字句加入到 "Screen" Section 里
# Enable 32-bit ARGB GLX Visuals
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
# If you are using an older version of compiz that
# does not support rendering into the Composite
# Overlay Window, you will need to disable clipping
# of GLX rendering to the X Root window with this
# option, or you will get a blank screen after
# starting compiz:
# Option "DisableGLXRootClipping" "True"
5. 安装 Beryl
sudo apt-get install beryl-core beryl-plugins beryl-plugins-data emerald beryl-settings beryl-manager beryl beryl-dev emerald-themes
Ctrl＋Alt＋Backspace 重启 X
运行 beryl-manager 嘿，拖动一下窗口试试 ：）
