I don't think mpeg1 need hardware acceleration. It's mainly used in VCD which can be decoded very well even by a Pentium3 processor.

And then, most of modern NV cards support mpeg1 acceleration in a bad way - don't support VLD-level hardware acceleration. That might lead many errors when decoding.

My ATI HD card only support MPEG12 IDCT...No VLD
but the IDCT can not give the processor any pressure..
