从外观上来讲，传统的 X window manager 无外乎三类，最早的 tiling，后来的 stacking，以及 非常炫的 compositing. 这三类都是基于键盘鼠标的输入设备。如今上网本流行，各种触摸设备越来越普及，ipad及其类似产品大受欢迎。对于 X window manager，要求更适合 触摸 或 手写笔 输入的风格。

ubuntu 推出了 Ubuntu Netbook Edition，而 KDE4 也有基于上网本的界面。都很适合触摸设备。不过 gnome 和 kde 都有些重量级了。而一些手机系统，如 iphone os，又功能太简单。

似乎还没看到类似的轻量级的 window manager。也许 openbox 或者 fvwm 可以自己配置成这样，不过还没有看到。

这里面没有 window manager。其中 Maximus 可以与 EWMH-spec window manager 兼容。或许意味着即使没有 Metacity，只要有 EWMH-spec window manager 就可以安装 unr。

最好能做一个独立完整的 window manager。
