安装geforce fx5200遇到困难求助

因为电脑比较老，所以我装的是xubuntu10.04，内核“2.6.32-26-generic“（在终端中输入uname －r获取）。
在nvidia下载了驱动，在终端中输入了“sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.28-pkg1.run“后出错误提示，以下是LOG。

看提示是要运行x server，我是新手，不懂该怎么运行，所以发贴救助，不胜感谢！

硬件驱动那里激活不行吗?sudo gdm stop,切换到tty执行这个命令,不过建议先搜索一下,nvidia的显卡安装有几个步骤的

那已经试过了，搜索后有2个选择，一个版本173，一个版本96，可是不管用那个版本，重启后只有800＊600的分辨率了。所以我现在只能再用系统自带的驱动，系统自带驱动分辨率能上1024*768。不过用这个驱动的话看PPS画面会与声音脱节，画面全是慢镜头，所以我想自己在官网上下载驱动重装，结果就出现第一楼的这种情况。
