OK, I have uplink working on Hoary using the Uplink 1.31 Dynamic Patch and from ubuntu repositories the libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2 and libsdl-mixer1.2 packages.

Works fine, at last! Only took around 3 hours the figure this one out
