I upgraded to Hoary, and the desktop and most applications now appear in English.

If you have upgraded from Warthy to Hoary and did not have English as your default language, you might have noticed that most applications and the desktop now use English (partially or completely) as their language. The reason is that, to enable the support for another language, you must install a few additional packages which may have not been updated along with the rest of Ubuntu.

For instance, if you want to add support for the Spanish (es) language, you should install (with Synaptic, apt-get or whatever method you prefer) the packages language-pack-es, language-pack-es-base and language-support-es. Substitute -es for the abbreviation of the language of your choice. Then, log out and back in and you should be able to enjoy Ubuntu in the language you want again.

如果你没有把英语作为默认语言，那么你从稳定版升级到开发版后，你会看到桌面和部分应用程序只能显示英语。原因如下：要选择别的语言，你要安装新的软件包。

例如：你要增加西班牙语（缩写为es），你应安装（用Synaptic，apt-get 和其它方法）软件包language-pack-es, language-pack-es-base and language-support-es 。要安装其它语言，将es换成你选定语言的缩写。
最后，重新启动就可使用你的语言。
