[help] I can't input chinese

I have install ubuntu 7.10 from harddisk,every things is ok but can't input chinese, there is nothing about chinese ime in
SCIM. The "input method" in my language support is disabled. how can I correct this ? thanks all

这个是拼音输入法。

输入如下：
sudo apt-get install scim-pinyin
在终端中输入，前提是你安装好了 scim

为什么都认为更新了语言环境就有了中文输入法呢？

更新什么语言环境？？？我的locale还都是 en_utf8呢还不一样用中文输入。。。
主要是配置好scim 按照wiki里面的方法就可以了！简单的问题。。。
