Technical Pre Sales Engineer

Job Location: Based in Brazil, Russia, India, China or Taiwan with regular travel engagements
Job Summary: In addition support on specific projects and sales opportunities, the technical pre sales engineer will be responsible for defining, documenting, and refining technical pre sales processes. This involves building working relationships within Canonical to enhance the efficiency of collaboration between different teams.
Examples of tasks that may be requested by specific teams include:
OEM:
* Provide solutions and best practices for technical issues
* Provide fast response times and estimated time lines for resolving individual technical issues
* Build strong technical relationships with key OEM partners
Training:
* Act as technical liaison between Canonical and Training Partners
* Ensure technical correctness of training material
* Drive community infrastructure for open source training material
Partners:
* Evaluate, validate, and certify products and solutions from Canonical Partners
* Create prototypes and showcases with Canonical Partners to foster technical relationship
* Define and document processes for technical cooperation between Canonical and Partners
* Present and inform on solutions and products at exhibitions and conferences
* Assist new partnerships in technical pre-sales questions
Global Alliances:
* Build strong technical relationships with Global Alliance Partners
* Establish cooperation on technical projects between Global Alliance partners and Canonical
* Assist new partnerships in technical pre-sales questions

OEM Channel Manager (China)

Reports to: OEM Programme Manager
Job Location: China
Job Summary: Based in China the OEM Channel Manager will be responsible for building relationships with top level OEM/ODM and local MNC accounts in focus region. As part of the Business Development Department, the OEM programme counts 6 Channel Managers who seek to create a network of partners across the globe with special focus in Brazil, Russia, India, China and Taiwan.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
* Create ubiquity by establishing solid working relationships with companies within the region of responsibility, particular emphasis towards top 10 local OEMs / ODMs and local multi-national companies
* Develop, manage and implement action plan for the territory; clearly formulating sales, communication and marketing activities
* Ability to analyze, identify and make progress on market opportunities
* Represent Canonical on the ground and establish infrastructure
* Engineer pre-sales approach, account acquisition and post sales support
* Monitor performance, regular and accurate reporting on activity progress within target market
* Manage relationships with key Canonical partners locally
* Interact with the media and be the official spokesperson within the region of responsibility
* Organize and attend major events that would contribute to the promotion of the OEM Programme. Often delivering presentations or targeted training
Required skills and experience:
* Must have at least 8 years of channel sales / business development experience
* Confidence in working in a new sector
* Pro-active autonomous individual, with vision, creativity and talent
* Ability to attract, convince and establish partnerships with large size organizations
* Ability to work with Canonical's mid-sized but highly distributed team. Also, be at ease with a virtual environment and a culturally diverse company
* Technically astute – must have a good understanding of IT market, open source knowledge will be a plus
* Good commercial awareness and ability to quickly assimilate elements from the market that will accelerate account acquisition: i.e. specific needs within vertical markets, requirements for localization, key events etc.
* Ability to communicate and influence across groups and negotiate positive outcomes
