i'm sorry i can't input Chinese now. i just installed ubuntu and don't know how to input Chinese.
Using pppoeconf, the pc running ubuntu can connect to the internet, eg.,input some command:
sudo pppoeconf
then step by step, and you can be asked to provide your username and pwd.
but i have another question, the network traffic is so bad, it works well for a period time,then it goes down, then well,bad....
When the network is off, the firefox give me a error page ,with the infomation about "you should be authened in IE browser". another, the result of ping is "ping:sendmsg:Network is unreachable".
when using winxp, network is well.
any help will be appriciated! thanks in advance.

i tried below steps, the network looks well.i don't know if it's correct....
1.edit mtu value in the file of dsl-proviler
#sudo vi /etc/ppp/peers/dsl-provider
in my computer, the mtu is commented, eg. #mtu 1492
remove the comment block, save file.
2. stop pppoe
#sudo poff -a
3. restart pppoe
#sudo pon dsl-provider
