What ADSL modem in Beijing use

Hi every one,
I’m expatriate living in Beijing. I had move to new apartment and here is Alacatel ADSL modem Speedtouche Home Plus 511e. Of course doesn’t work with my Ubuntu 5.10.
Does any one know there is any way makes this work under Ubuntu?
If not, witch one modem I should buy? What you use under Ubuntu in Beijing. Something easy to install and configuration.
