What I'm suggesting you is to search arch linux's wiki.
For an example, when you search "Alsa" in the wiki, the article will tell you how to save your volume settings.
Searching wiki will only help you to save your time in stead of looking for answers in other places.

I am a software engineer and produce end-user several products. Problem is not I don't want to search, in fact I uses google quite well and very frequently. The problem is that in many cases (60% for me) I cannot find a good keywords for searching. Many search result returned by google is not at all relevant.

And I know google is the BEST search engine available. That's why I asked if there are "synaptic package manager" or similar program in Arch. My opinion:

1) Searching is not cure-all. Searching cannot replace browsing.

2) Wiki articles can get overwhelmingly complex. e.g., it may use a lot of text to describe things you already know, and the key point is often swamped. e.g. using alsactl to set volume is somewhere in the ALSA document, but I didn't get it there, I get it here by seeing someone asking the same question. Also, the same post pointed out that we can use alsaconf to initially setup the sound card, this IMHO is better than using alsactl.

I am preparing a down-to-the-earth quick-start guide for installing arch, which I think is much simpler and easier to follow than the official wiki. It is not at all a replacement of the official wiki, it is just a very quick and dirty guide for experienced linux user who want to try arch.
