直接从ubuntu7.04升级到7.10的步骤

Ubuntu Beta upgrade
Note: these instructions apply to the Beta release and will be removed when 7.10 is released
If you wish to participate in testing the Ubuntu 7.10 beta, you can easily upgrade over the network with the following procedure. People upgrading after the final release will not need to use the command line.
1.
Press Alt+F2 to run a command, or open a terminal window
2.
Run the following command:
update-manager -d
3.
Follow the on-screen instructions
If you have a working network connection, it should then inform you of the new release and offer to upgrade your system.

Before you start

You can only directly upgrade to Ubuntu 7.10 ("Gutsy Gibbon") from Ubuntu 7.04 ("Feisty Fawn") (see UpgradeNotes)
*
Be sure that you have all updates applied to Ubuntu 7.04 before you upgrade
Note: If you have a version of Ubuntu which was released before Ubuntu 7.04, please see Installation/UpgradeFromOldVersion for information on how to upgrade.

Troubleshooting
If you are not prompted to upgrade your system, or are getting this error:
warning: could not initiate dbus
current dist not found in meta-release file
You will need to edit your meta-release file to include Gutsy.
1.
Close the Update Manager
2.
Open a terminal window and run the following command: sudo nano /var/lib/update-manager/meta-release
3.
Scroll to the bottom of the file and add the following to the end:
Dist: gutsy
Name: Gutsy Gibbon
Version: 7.10
Date: Thu, 18 Oct 2007 12:00:00 UTC
Supported: 0
Description: This is the 7.10 release
Release-File:
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/gutsy/Release
ReleaseNotes:

UpgradeTool:

Press Ctrl + O
2.
This will prompt you to write out the file. Press the Enter key
3.
Press Ctrl + X to exit nano
4.
Issue the following two commands:
sudo apt-get update
gksudo "update-manager -c -d"
This should bring the Update Manager back up, allowing you to Upgrade to Gusty.

1. 只能从7.04升级到7.10（目前是beta版，以后会自动更新到正式版）
2. 7.04必需是最新版
3. 打开终端，输入下列命令行：
update-manager -d
4. 跟随屏幕上的指示操作

通过比较，线上升级麻烦得多~~
如果先下载Alternative CD，只要将CD放入，系统就会问是否升级，方便很多~~

还是等正式版本出来再说。。。。ubuntu本就是免费软件，维护工作不见得比windows少，但维护人员绝对应该比win系的少，等正式版本出来会少很多问题。。。。不必着急。。。等等吧

请问11楼，是不是要刻盘，能不能直接从硬盘挂载读取，然后升级
下载的alternative CD要先刻盘。如果将iso挂载来用，我没试过，可能要用到acetoneISO
之类软件吧～～
